Smoke Lineups
A smoke lineup is a fixed spot on the map, a fixed stance, and a fixed crosshair placement that, thrown the same way every time, lands a smoke grenade in the same place every time. SmokeLine's job is to show you that spot, that stance, and that crosshair placement clearly enough that you can reproduce it in your own game, not just watch someone else do it once.
How a lineup guide is built
Every lineup in SmokeLine follows the same four-step path, so once you've used it once you already know how to find any other lineup on any other map:
- Map — pick the map you're playing: Dust 2, Cache, Anubis, Mirage, Ancient, or Inferno.
- Side — pick T or CT. Attacking and defending utility are different problems with different lineups, so SmokeLine keeps them completely separate rather than mixing them into one long list.
- Target / start area — pick the callout you actually care about (e.g. "Window," "Mid," "Long A") from a region list built from where you're standing, not a flat alphabetical dump.
- Guide — the lineup itself: a throw video, a position screenshot, and an aim screenshot for that exact smoke.
Position, aim, and video — and why all three
A lineup description that's only text ("stand on the crate, look at the antenna") is ambiguous in ways that cost you rounds — which crate edge, how far up, what does "the antenna" mean from this angle. SmokeLine backs every lineup with three complementary references instead of one:
- Position image — a screenshot of exactly where to stand, so there's no guessing which crate, which pixel of a doorway, or which side of a box.
- Aim image — a screenshot of exactly where your crosshair should rest before you throw, since a lineup that's one degree off in aim can land a full grenade-length away from where you needed it.
- Throw video — the full motion: run-up (if any), stance, jump-throw or standing throw, and the smoke actually landing and blooming, so you can confirm your own attempt against a real result.
The Lineup Guide screen plays the video, and gives you position/aim as a fullscreen reference you can flip to mid-practice — you're not scrubbing back and forth in a video trying to pause on the exact right frame.
Supported maps
SmokeLine currently covers 115 lineups across 6 maps: Dust 2, Cache, Anubis, Mirage, Ancient, and Inferno, split across both T and CT sides. Coverage grows over time as new lineups are recorded and verified — SmokeLine doesn't publish a lineup until it has been checked to actually land where it claims to.
Built for practice, not spectating
SmokeLine is a reference tool you keep open in a second window (or on a phone) while you practice in-game, not a highlight reel. There's no account requirement to use it — Guests get the exact same lineup access as a signed-in user, because the utility itself isn't the part of SmokeLine that needs an account; favoriting lineups across devices is.
